At this point, is it like a hobby project? Does anybody use this professionally?

At this point, more than ever, ReactOS could become a serious clone of Windows by using AI. Clones of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and others have been produced in a matter of weeks or months. It's just a matter of time until ReactOS and wine start receiving contributions like that.

People said the same thing about Linux for a long time, too.

At 28 years old, ReactOS is older than I am. I think it's more useful just to see the source code rather than running it

i don’t think so. it’sa cool project i don’t know how many developers they have but they seem to be making slow and steady progress. was it originally supposed to ‘recreate’/binary compatible win2k? are we about 25 years down the line here ?

in most cases people are likely to run wine if they need that compatibility so i think this is kinds like haiku and beos and other similar endeavors.

i wonder how much ai is helping with the effort.

Isn't that a project where they must implement under white room conditions (or risk copyright infringement claims), and are careful about not taking contributions from people having been exposed to windows' source code? IIRC that's the case of wine
